“This game is already open in another tab”: what to do
You can keep one game open in only one tab in a browser. Go back to the first one or close it, and if the first one is already closed, press “Try again”.
In short
- Video, sound and the game stay in the first tab. The second shows a screen with the “Back to lobby” and “Try again” buttons.
- Close the first tab or go back to it. After it's closed, the second usually picks up the game by itself; if not, press “Try again”.
- Refreshing the page doesn't count as a second tab: the game just opens again.
- You can keep the lobby in one tab and the game in another: only a duplicate of the game itself is blocked.
- Of two devices, the one that joined later keeps the video. On the first, “You joined the game from another tab or device. This session was closed.” appears.
Why. You're one person at the table, so you have one camera, one microphone and one seat. Two copies of the game would get in each other's way: closing the extra tab could even take you away from the table. So the game opens in the first tab, and the second shows the screen “This game is already open in another tab” with the “Back to lobby” and “Try again” buttons.
What to do.
- Go back to the first tab or close it.
- If the first tab is closed, the second usually picks up the game by itself. If the screen with the message stays, press “Try again”.
- The “Back to lobby” button takes you off the game page.

Another browser or device. This check works only within one browser. If you open the same game in another browser (say, Chrome and Safari) or on another device, the video in the room is held by the one that joined later. So you can't play from two devices at once. On the earlier one “You joined the game from another tab or device. This session was closed.” appears with a “Rejoin” button. Don't press it while you're playing on the second device: you'll start taking the video away from each other in turns.
