Don
The don is a mafioso with two night actions: he shoots with the mafia and separately checks whether a chosen player is the sheriff.
Shoots with the mafia and hunts the sheriff
- At night
- Shoots with the mafia, then checks one player: sheriff or not.
- Goal
- Lead the mafia to victory and find the sheriff.
- Tip
- The sheriff sees you as “Mafia”: keep a low profile.
In short
- First action: a shot together with all the mafia, one shared target.
- Second action: checking one player for “sheriff”. The answer: “Sheriff” or “Not Sheriff”.
- If there are two or more mafiosi, you wake twice: first with the mafia, then alone.
- If you're the only mafioso, there's one window: first the shot, right after it the check.
- To the sheriff, the don is just “Mafia”.
The don is the leader of the mafia. He wakes with the mafia and shoots under the same rules: all the mafiosi must shoot at one player. But he also has a personal action: check one player and find out whether they're the sheriff. You'll see “Sheriff” or “Not Sheriff”. You can't check yourself.
The don is no exception for the sheriff: when the sheriff checks the don, the answer will be “Mafia”.
How it looks at night depends on how many mafiosi were dealt at the start of the game. The don wakes after the ordinary mafia and before the sheriff.
Two or more mafiosi: two separate windows.
- First the mafia round: all the mafiosi wake together with the don and shoot at one target.
- Then the mafia go to sleep, and the don wakes once more, alone. Now he checks one player for the sheriff. He can't shoot in this window.
The don is the only mafioso: one window, two actions in a row. First you shoot, and only after the shot can you check a player. There's no pause between the actions.
On the acquaintance night the don has no separate window: he wakes with all the mafia, and neither shooting nor checking is possible yet.
With the automatic host the windows change by themselves, and a voice names the role. With a live host, the host wakes you: first the mafia, then the don separately; if there's one mafioso, the don right away.
