Automatic host: a game without a human host
The automatic host runs the game in place of a person: it announces the phases by voice and text, keeps time and counts the votes, so all the seats at the table go to players.
In short
- It's turned on with the “Automatic game master” switch in the “Rules” section of the room creation form and the game settings.
- The players start the game themselves: when everyone has pressed “Ready to play” (at least four of them), a short countdown runs and the game starts.
- The time for speeches, voting, chaos time and the night turn comes from the room settings.
- The voice names the player's seat number, not the nickname.
- Only the automatic host moves the phases; the room owner can kick an offender, restart or finish the match.
How to turn it on. The room owner picks the mode: the “Automatic game master” switch is in the “Rules” section of the creation form, and until the game starts you can change it in the game settings. Without it the room is run by a live host, and that's the room's creator. With the automatic host, “Night turn” also appears in the “Pacing” section: how much time each night role has to act.
What you do. With the automatic host you only press the readiness buttons, and it does the rest by itself:
- in the lobby everyone presses “Ready to play”. When everyone is ready (at least four players), a short countdown runs, and during it the game can still be cancelled;
- after the roles are dealt — “Got my role”: the game moves on as soon as everyone presses it or the time runs out;
- on the acquaintance night the mafia can end it early with the “I know my team” button;
- in chaos time — “Enough talking”: it ends early if all the living decide so;
- before voting — “Ready to vote”, so you don't have to wait;
- in your own speech — “Thanks”, when you've said everything.
Time and voice. The length of each phase comes from the room settings, so the pace is the one the owner chose. The automatic host announces the phases by voice and text and names the player's seat number, not the nickname. The announcement before a speech doesn't eat your time: the countdown starts after it. The voice can be turned off or made quieter: the “Host voice” switch and slider are in the audio settings.
How it differs from a live host.
- It doesn't take a seat: all the seats at the table play.
- Chaos time starts by itself, but only from day 2; it can be switched off in the room settings.
- Immunity goes by itself to whoever was first out in the last game.
- You can't switch day or night or give the floor out of turn by hand.
What the room owner can do. The owner is the one who created the room. In the “⋮” menu on a player's window they can kick an offender and block or unblock their microphone, and with the buttons on the window they can turn one player's microphone or camera off or on. In the menu at the bottom of the screen (“⋮”), before the start they have “Game Settings”, and after the start “Restart Game” and “Finish Game”: that's an emergency exit if the room gets stuck. They can't turn off everyone's microphones or cameras at once. If the owner leaves, control passes to another player, and returns to them when they come back.
