Room settings

In the room settings the owner chooses the table language, additional roles, rules and pacing. They're set when the room is created and can be changed until the game starts.

In short

  • The form has four parts: “Table language”, “Additional Roles”, “Rules” and “Pacing”.
  • The doctor and the prostitute are optional; the game decides how many mafia there are, and the number of seats isn't adjustable.
  • “Rules” has the password, live or automatic host, manual dealing, chaos time and observers.
  • “Pacing” is how many seconds for a speech, voting, defense, chaos time and (with the automatic host) the night turn.
  • Whoever runs the room can change the settings, and only before the game starts: the host menu, the “Game Settings” item.

Where they are. The form opens by itself when you create a room. Later you can open it from the host menu at the bottom of the screen, the “Game Settings” item. Only whoever runs the room changes the settings: the live host or, in a room with the automatic host, the owner (or the person they handed control to).

Language, roles and seats. “Table language” is from one to three languages spoken in the room; they're shown in the game list. “Additional Roles” are the doctor and the prostitute: click a card to turn it on. Without them the game has only citizens, the sheriff and the mafia with the don. The number of seats isn't adjustable: up to 12 people at the table, and a live host, if there is one, takes one of the seats. The game decides itself how many of them are mafia.

Rules. Five switches:

  • “Private Game” — a room with a password (a password field appears);
  • “Manual role selection” — players pull cards in turn instead of automatic dealing;
  • “Automatic game master” — the app runs the game and you play; switched off, you become the host;
  • “Chaos time” — free talk of all living players in the morning, and here you can switch it off;
  • “Allow observers” — whether outsiders can watch the game without playing.

Pacing. All in seconds:

  • “Speech” — each player's turn to talk;
  • “Voting” — how long voting stays open;
  • “Defense” — extra speeches: candidates' defense before the revote and the last word of a player who is leaving;
  • “Chaos time” — the length of free talk (only when chaos time is on);
  • “Night turn” — how much time a woken role has for its action (only with the automatic host; the mafia are given more).
