Fullscreen: how to remove the address bar

Fullscreen is turned on with the “Fullscreen” button in the game's bottom bar. It never turns on by itself, and in Safari on iPhone there isn't one: the button there shows how to add the game to your home screen.

In short

  • The “Fullscreen” button is in the game's bottom bar. The game never expands by itself.
  • To exit: the same button (“Exit fullscreen”), Esc on a computer or the “back” gesture on Android.
  • Safari on iPhone can't make sites fullscreen: there the button opens “The game on your home screen” window with steps for adding the game to your home screen.
  • If the game is opened from an icon on the home screen, there's no button: there's no address bar anyway.

Where the button is. In the game's bottom bar there's a “Fullscreen” button. Press it, and the game takes up the whole screen, while windows and messages over the game stay visible. On a narrow phone screen the bar is folded into a round “⋮” button: tap it to unfold the other buttons. Fullscreen turns on only when you press the button. If the game is opened from an icon on the home screen, there's no button: there's no address bar anyway.

How to exit. Press the same button: its tooltip is now “Exit fullscreen”. Fullscreen also ends by itself if you press Esc on a computer, make the “back” gesture on Android or leave the game page; then the button offers “Fullscreen” again.

Why iPhone is different. Safari on iPhone can't expand ordinary pages to fullscreen, only video. So the same button there opens “The game on your home screen” window with steps for adding the game to your home screen: after that it opens on its own, without an address bar. This is the only way to get rid of the address bar on iPhone (the steps are in the article about adding the game to your home screen).
