Hiding the side panel
The side panel with the chat, players and role card can be hidden with the “Hide” button in the chat header so the video takes the full width. You can bring it back with the tab at the right edge of the screen.
In short
- “Hide” is at the start of the chat header: the panel slides to the right, and the video stretches into its place.
- You can bring the panel back with the tab with the chat icon at the right edge or by tapping the notification about a new message.
- Your role doesn't get lost: a mark with your role appears on your window, and only you see it.
- New messages arrive as notifications, and an unread counter grows on the tab.
- This button exists only on a big screen and not for the host; your choice is remembered on this device.
What it is and why. On a computer the side column — chat, player list and role card — takes up part of the width, though you mostly look at the faces. Press “Hide” at the start of the chat header: the column slides out to the right, and the video stretches into the freed space. You can bring it back with the tab with the chat icon at the right edge. The chat returns as it was: the same tab, an unfinished message, the scroll position.
This is only how your screen looks: other players don't know about it. Your choice is remembered on this device and applies in later games.
Role and chat while the panel is hidden.
- Role. A mark with your role appears at the top left of your window, and only you see it: nothing changes on other people's screens.
- Chat. A new message from any chat available to you pops up as a notification on the right, and an unread counter grows on the tab. Tap the notification, and the panel comes back.
The timer and the automatic host's requests. In a room with the automatic host, the phase timer and requests to you (readiness, agreement) live in the panel. While it's hidden, they appear over the video at the top center, so you won't miss a request.
The “Hide” button isn't there when:
- you're the host: the panel holds your game controls;
- the window is narrower than 1280 pixels: on a tablet and phone the chat already opens as a separate drawer. Widen the window and the button appears;
- manual role selection is going on: the panel stays in place because your card is flying to it;
- you're in the tutorial.
