The player window: what the marks on it mean

A player window is the player's video. The seat number, nickname, votes and other marks sit along the edges, and nothing covers the face.

In short

  • Everything game-related sits along the edges of the window, and nothing covers the face.
  • Bottom left — the number, nickname and the immunity shield; bottom right — votes against the player, with the microphone under them.
  • The frame is a hint about what's happening: blue — the player is talking, white — it's their speech now, yellow — they've been nominated for the vote or you voted against them.
  • A click on the window is an action: nominate the player, vote against them or (at night) make your role's night move.
  • You can't see other players' roles in the windows: only the host, ghosts and observers with roles shown can see them, and after the game, everyone.

Where to look. Everything you need sits along the edges of the window.

  • Top left: the yellow “GM” on the host's window, your own role (if you've hidden the side panel) and the red “Dead” on a player who's out.
  • Top right: the speech timer when this player has the floor, plus “your vote” and “shout”.
  • Bottom left: the seat number and nickname. A shield next to it means immunity, and during nominations “nominated by” and the name of the player who nominated appear under the nickname.
  • Bottom right: a number — the votes against a candidate, with the microphone under it. On your own window during your speech, a “Thanks” button also appears here.

The frame and highlight. The frame around a window tells you what's going on with the player:

  • blue — they're talking right now;
  • white — it's their speech now;
  • yellow — they've been nominated for the vote, and once voting is on, the window of the one you voted against is outlined in yellow.

Until you've voted, the windows you can vote against pulse with a light frame and the rest are dimmed. A click on such a window is your vote.

Marks.

  • Microphone: a red icon means off, blue bars mean the player is talking. With no camera, an avatar is shown instead of the video.
  • “Dead”: a red tag; living players see a tombstone instead of their video, and the nickname and number stay visible.
  • Kiss mark: the prostitute blocked the player. By day the whole table sees it, and during the vote there's also “cannot vote”.
  • Checkmark in the corner: in the lobby of a room with the automatic host, green means “Ready to play”, and at the start of the game, yellow means “Got my role”.
  • “Connection issues”: the player has lost their connection; their window stays in place until they come back.
  • A mark of a shot, a kiss or a heal stays on the target's window; at night only those who take part in that action can see it.
