Victory: who wins and when the game ends

The town wins when no living mafiosi are left; the mafia wins when there are at least as many living mafiosi as living townspeople.

There are two teams. The mafia is the mafiosi and the don. The town is everyone else: citizen, sheriff, doctor, prostitute. The host belongs to neither team.

The game ends in one of two cases:

• the town wins when there are no living mafiosi left — all were banished in the vote or killed;
• the mafia wins when there are as many living mafiosi as living townspeople, or more.

Example: two mafiosi and two townspeople are left — the mafia wins. Two mafiosi and three townspeople — the game goes on.

The prostitute changes the count. A mafioso the prostitute blocked for the day can neither speak nor vote, so he isn't counted. A blocked townsperson, on the contrary, still counts as a townsperson. So a block only puts off the mafia's victory by a day: the town still has votes to banish the mafioso.

The one exception in the town's favor: one mafioso is left, the prostitute blocked him, and there is one townsperson against him. The blocked one can be nominated, but he doesn't vote himself, so the townsperson's single vote banishes him, and the town wins at once. Against two townspeople this doesn't apply: the day still has to be played.

Who announces the end.

• With the automatic host the game ends by itself: after the night and after the vote.
• With a live host the game suggests the end: a window shows the host who won, and he confirms.

After the end everyone is shown the victory screen: “The town wins” or “The mafia wins”, the winning team and your result. Eliminated players are back at the table: you can talk the game over.
